What this page prices

Each player is the same VOB the Surplus board already prints: projected points minus the last startable player at that position, under the chips you set. Means add. Spreads combine as the square root of summed variance, the same rule as a two-player compare in the app. There is no crowdsourced KeepTradeCut-style index here, and no second formula invented for this page.

Redraft, keepers, and dynasty

The headline is availability-adjusted value over baseline, the same number a lineup seats. Football projections are a healthy season, so missed games come off here. NBA and NHL already fold expected games into the projection, so the adjustment is already in the total. Keepers use that same number; the cost of a keep is league-specific (a forfeited round, a years-kept cap) and this page does not invent it. Open a saved league in Surplus to price a contract. Dynasty stamps a per-season window under Win now / Hold / Win later. Football, NBA, and NHL each use that sport’s stated age prior. Future picks print as a range from this year’s rookie class.

Scoring and superflex

Football: standard, half-PPR, PPR, and TE premium, plus the same SUPERFLEX seat the roster shapes use. NBA: points or categories. NHL: Yahoo or ESPN points, or categories. Changing a chip rebuilds baselines, so a quarterback moves when you turn Superflex on, and a tight end moves under TE premium.

Is Surplus the same as surplus value drafting?

No. Surplus value is a drafting strategy. Surplus is a product: the board that writes projected points and VOB on every row. This calculator uses those numbers. You can use surplus-value thinking on any board.
