No. Surplus value is a strategy. Surplus is the product that puts Proj / VOB (or Z) on the baseball board.
Value over baseline: season points above the last startable player at that position. Season points are per-appearance fantasy points × eGP (expected games, starts, or appearances). The football missed-game haircut is not applied. The points board prints Proj/g and VOB/g (season VOB ÷ eGP); the sort still uses season VOB. Hitters and pitchers are separate pools. Category leagues print Z/base — season z already includes playing time, so it is not multiplied by eGP again. More on the MLB draft board that prices picks in points.
The spine is in-house Marcel (per appearance). ESPN Fantasy Baseball rest-of-season totals are scaled to a rate before they blend with Marcel — hitting and pitching independently, so a two-way line is not divided by the wrong volume. If a blended line still looks like a season total, Marcel is kept. Surplus does not run the football house model on baseball, so there is no published accuracy percentage for MLB. The house-model backtest at /backtest is football only.
