Is Surplus free?
Yes. Free at surplus.football. Guest drafts stay in this browser. Surv% and Δ pick lock behind a free sign-up.
Is Surplus the same as surplus value drafting?
No. Surplus value is a strategy. Surplus is the product that puts Proj / VOB (or Z) on the hockey board.
What is VOB?
Value over baseline: season points above the last startable player at that position. Season points are per-game (or per-start, for goalies) fantasy points × eGP. The football missed-game haircut is not applied. The points board prints Proj/g and VOB/g (season VOB ÷ eGP); the sort still uses season VOB. Skaters and goalies are separate pools. Category leagues print Z/base — season z already includes playing time, so it is not multiplied by eGP again. More on the NHL draft board that prices picks in points.
How is a player ranked?
The spine is in-house Marcel (per game / per start). ESPN Fantasy Hockey rest-of-season totals are scaled to a rate before they blend with Marcel. If a blended line still looks like a season total, Marcel is kept. Surplus does not run the football house model on hockey, so there is no published accuracy percentage for NHL. The house-model backtest at /backtest is football only.
Live parties / remote owners?
HDMI or cast the tab. The commissioner records picks on that machine. There is no shareable room URL. Surplus does not import Sleeper hockey leagues.
