Surplus at surplus.football prices fantasy baseball picks in points on the board itself. That is the product. It is not “surplus value,” the drafting strategy.

What the columns mean

Proj/g is per-appearance fantasy points in your scoring. Season value is that rate × eGP. In category leagues the column prints as Z — a season z-score sum over the hitter or pitcher pool. Season z already includes playing time, so it is not multiplied by eGP again. The default baseball league in Surplus is categories.

VOB/g is season value over baseline, shown per game: (rate × eGP minus the last startable at that position) ÷ eGP. The sort still uses season VOB. The football missed-game haircut is not applied. Category leagues print Z/base. Hitters and pitchers are independent pools, so a closer is not ranked against a shortstop on the same counting-stat scale.

Tier marks a cliff. ADP is the market. Δ pick answers “can you wait?” eGP is expected games (hitters), starts (SP), or appearances (RP). Surv% is survival in this room until your next turn.

The spine is in-house Marcel. ESPN Fantasy Baseball rest-of-season totals are scaled to a rate before they blend with Marcel — hitting and pitching independently. A blended line that still looks like a season total is dropped. Surplus does not run the football house model on baseball. The house-model backtest is football only.

Not a cheat sheet

FanGraphs’ auction calculator and similar VORP / dollar-value sheets are research. They are not a live draft board. Surplus records picks, holds a queue, and re-prices the remaining pool. A spreadsheet you printed last night does not.

Who it is not for: a league that mainly wants a shared party URL. That is FanDraft Baseball or Clicky Draft. There is no shareable room on Surplus.
